Arkle was Broom’s first foal and Leonardo’s first ever foal.
Leonardo was chosen as the stallion as he is not related to the rest of the Cotebrook Shire horses.
He offers masses of coronet hair which will hopefully add to and enhance our existing excellent bloodline.

We are delighted with the result so far and hope that Broom’s son will go on to be a major stallion for the Cotebrook Stud.

Arkle is a magnificent mountain in the NW Highlands of Scotland with a curving ridge of glistening white quartzite.
There is also a famous racehorse named after this mountain who won the Cheltenham Gold Cup 3 times.

Arkles first show was Nantwich & South Cheshire Show in July 2018 where he won the prestigious award of Champion Foal.

He came 2nd in a strong class of yearling colts at The Shire Horse National Championships in March 2019, and in July 2019 he was Junior Champion at Newport Show.

At the North West and Wales Shire Foal Show in October, Arkle won fist prize yearling, Junior Champion and overall Supreme Champion—a feat only matched by the late, great Metheringham Upton Hamlet, son of Moorfield Edward who is Arkles Grandfather.
