Leonardo

The ideal gift for animal lovers!

Did You Know?

All the male Shire horses bred at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre are named after Scottish mountains.

What a very special Shire stallion this is.
Leonardo’s pedigree is exceptional and he is producing some good quality foals. He has masses of good quality hair which he is passing on to enhance the Cotebrook Bloodline.

He is on loan from Matthew, Alistair’s son, and is here to be mated with all Edwards daughters and grand daughters.
Leonardo has now produced lots of fantastic foals.

Leonardo has won the Champion Stock Stallion Award for the last 3 years for siring the highest number of prize winners at the National Championships (the largest Shire Show in the world)

Although he has never been in a show ring himself he is proving to be a great breeder of exceptional progeny.

At the 2024 National Championships Leonardo was the father of the following Champions:

  • Supreme Champion Gelding – Cotebrook Alistars Whats Wanted (Big Al)
  • Reserve Junior Champion Gelding –  Cotebrook Ben Lui

At the 2023 National Championships he was also the father of the following winners:

  • Reserve Junior Champion Stallion – Cotebrook Rob Roy MacGregor
  • Supreme Junior Champion Gelding – Cotebrook Alistairs Whats Wanted (Big Al)
  • Best yearling Gelding – Cotebrook Cairnsmore of Fleet
  • 3rd placed Yearling Colt – Cotebrook Ben Lui

At the 2022 National Championships he was also the father of the following winners:

  • Supreme Champion Stallion – Cotebrook Arkle
  • Junior Female Champion – Cotebrook Kelsie
  • Best yearling Colt – Cotebrook Cairn Gorm
  • 2nd placed 3 year old filly – Cotebrook Loch Maddy

Amazingly Kelsie, Cairn Gorm and Arkle are all siblings – their father being Leverton Leonardo and their mother Cotebrook Loch Broom.
