Cotebrook Loch an Righ

The ideal gift for animal lovers!

Did You Know?

All the female Shire horses bred at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre are named after Scottish Lochs.

When An Righ was born last year we were delighted that Laggan had had a filly!

Previously she has had 3 colts — Fleet, Big Al and Ben Lawers — who were all fabulous quality but had to be gelded. This is because Laggan is a grade B Shire, as her mother was a Clydesdale, which means any male progeny cannot be used for breeding.

However, her filly foal can be registered as a full pedigree Shire.

An Righ is beautifully marked and has excellent confirmation. Her brother Fleet who won Champion Foal THREE times in 2022 and her brother Big Al was Junior National Champion at the National Shire Horse Championships in 2023 and overall Supreme Champion in 2024.

An Righ is already following in their footsteps having won Champion Foal at all the shows she has attended in 2023.

She is proving to be very special!

Loch an Righ was named by Karen Wickett who chose the name of a small loch near Loch Laggan.

The name translates as Loch of the King which is very appropriate as Alistair always wished for a filly from Laggan.
