Cotebrook Loch Faskally

The ideal gift for animal lovers!

Did You Know?

All the female Shire horses bred at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre are named after Scottish Lochs.

Faskally is Loyal’s second foal and we are very pleased with her. She has a really pretty face and 4 white legs, unlike her mother, who has a front dark leg.

We have named her after Loch Faskally which is a very pretty loch near Pitlochry in the Scottish Highlands.

Alistair sat up all night waiting for Loyal to foal, watching her on the CCTV whilst she walked round and round her stable, covering many miles in the process. Mares always foal at night when things are very quiet, but not this time.

At 7am Alistair decided to turn Loyal out into the field and after half an hour she got down and had her foal — in exactly the same place that Carron gave birth to Loyal 5 years and 3 days ago.

In the photos below, Carron and baby Loyal are directly below, and Loyal and Faskally are below them, with the same house in the background.

Isn’t that spooky?!
