Loch Broom

The ideal gift for animal lovers!

Did You Know?

All the female Shire horses bred at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre are named after Scottish Lochs.

It was a great surprise when Angel had Broom as she was black in colour and there is no recent history of black horses in her parentage!

Broom is proving to be a fabulous brood mare producing some really good quality foals.

She gave birth to her first foal, Cotebrook Arkle, in 2018, who was also the first foal for his father Leverton Leonardo. What a great result! Arkle was Supreme Champion foal at Nantwich and South Cheshire Show, his first time in the show ring.

Broom had her second foal, Loch Awe, in 2019, another fabulous quality Shire who produced Brooms first grandson in 2023!

Her 3rd foal Kelsie, was born in 2020 and like her mum is a black with 4 white legs.

She had two exceptional colts in 2021 and 2022, Cairn Gorm and An Teallach but this year she has had another fabulous filly who we have named Loch Coruisk. Broom is back in foal again to Leonardo and is due on 5th February 2025.

Brooms partnership with Leonardo is producing some magnificent progeny.

At the 2022 National Championships (the largest Shire show in the world) they were the parents of the following winners:

  • Supreme Champion Stallion – Cotebrook Arkle
  • Junior Female Champion – Cotebrook Kelsie
  • Best yearling Colt – Cotebrook Cairn Gorm

What an amazing result!
