Loch Carron

The ideal gift for animal lovers!

Did You Know?

All the female Shire horses bred at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre are named after Scottish Lochs.

Alistair was frequently heard saying that Carron was his ‘favourite’, probably because of the similarity to her father who he loved so much.

Carron was our most successful brood mare producing top quality foals at Cotebrook every year.

Carrons foal born in May 2014 is Cotebrook Loch Anna. Twice Supreme National Champion (and twice Reserve Champion) Anna is a stunning black mare who is having a superb show career. Alistair thinks that she is probably the finest Shire Horse living today and certainly the best horse ever bred at Cotebrook.

Carron was featured on ITV’s programme Amazing Animal Births giving birth to Cotebrook Sgurr Alasdair.

Carron’s filly born in May 2016 is Cotebrook Loch Loyal.

Carron produced 9 foals for us over the years.

Sadly Carron passed away just after Christmas 2023. She was nearly 21 – a fantastic age for a Shire Horse.

She has left an amazing legacy and we have still got her daughters Anna and Loyal who are now producing her grandchildren, Carrianna and Ben Lui.
