Loch Loyal

The ideal gift for animal lovers!

Did You Know?

All the female Shire horses bred at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre are named after Scottish Lochs.

Loyal is full sister to Cotebrook Loch Anna, Cotebrook’s top show horse. She is very similar in looks to her mother, Carron, who was Alistairs favourite mare.

Loyal was shown at the largest foal show in the country in 2016 where she stood 2nd in a strong class. Her half sister, Laggan, went on to be 2016 Supreme Champion Foal.

At the 2017 National Shire Horse Championships, Loyal won 2nd prize in a strong class of 16 yearling fillies.

Loyal had her first foal by Leverton Leonardo on 17th March 2020, St Patrick’s Day, a beautiful filly foal we named Patricia.

Loyal had another fabulous filly foal in 2021 who we named Loch Faskally.

In 2022 she had a stunning colt named Ben Lui who is showing tremendous potential to become a top show stallion. He was Reserve Junior Champion Stallion at the National Championships in 2024.

In 2024 Loyal had a huge black foal, Sgurr Nan Gillean, just one and a half hours before her sister Anna gave birth to Cuillin! Another amazing quality colt like his brother Ben Lui.

She is back in foal to Leonardo and is due 28th February 2025.
