My big weekend

Hello!

It’s me, Anna.

It’s been a while, but I wanted to update you on life at the farm as we have a lot going on.

We welcomed a lot of new life onto the farm this year, with four lovely colt foals and a Shetland pony foal too. If you think shires are cute when we are little, you want to see a shetland foal! Unlike Shire Horses who don’t stay little for long, Shetlands stay small. If I was a Shetland, you would never find me as I would duck under the fences and cause some mischief!

After a bit of a break from shows, I made a welcome return to the show ring this year.. I’m not going to lie, I absolutely love the attention. This time I had company from my newest arrival Platinum King. He was born during the Queen’s jubilee and our surname is King, so a really fitting name. Janet tells me that there is now a King that is even more famous than my foal, but I can’t imagine that being the case!

Firstly I returned to Nantwich, where I had been Supreme Champion three times before. I won my class but was Reserve Champion this time, I was a bit disappointed but you can’t win them all as they say! Next, I headed down South. I was a bit nervous to be honest as people told me that there was a North / South divide and that people might not be as friendly. How wrong they were, not only were all the people lovely, but I won and qualified for the Horse of the Year Show! There are only 16 qualifying shows around the country for The Horse of the Year show and only the Champion Shire at each of those shows qualifies. So it’s quite an honour just to qualify!

And that’s what’s next… It’s in Birmingham, (which is neither North or South!) and it’s not just shires, they have lots of different horses on show too. I can’t wait to meet a few and see what their lives are like. I wonder if any of them have a blog?=

I really hope I do well and make everyone and Cotebrook very proud!

Until next time…
